For those who still don't know, you can actually activate 3G for your sim card without using the *100# menu. Just press *136# and your 3G will be activated within 2 hours.

As far as I know, this method do not requires you to replace your sim card, and your credits will not be deducted for activating 3G. You can actually use 3G on hand phone that cannot support 3G, but it will only use the GPRS connection. Just make sure you use the Maxis 3G WAP and Maxis 3G MMS, not the Maxis WAP GPRS and Maxis MMS GPRS. If you activated 3G, you cannot use the GPRS setting.
