3 Alternative Bittorrent Client to Bypass Traffic Shaping
As we all know, P2P speed in Malaysia is being throttled by TMNet. For those who cannot afford VPN or Torrentflux hosting, below are the alternative bittorrent client that can be used to bypass traffic shaping by TMNet.
Thunder is a Chinese download manager, and it supports Bittorrent protocol. Popular torrents especially Asian torrents work great with Thunder. However, Thunder from their main website contains ads. You can download the no-ad version here and here. You can find english translation for Thunder here.
2. Deluge
Deluge is a cross-platform bittorrent client, based on libtorrent library, written using Python and GTK+. Early version only available for Linux/Unix platform. The latest version offers Windows and Mac OS X port. The Windows port is being reported to be less stable compared with Linux/Unix version, but it still works like charm.
3. Halite
A Windows bittorrent client based on libtorrent library. As this entry is written, Halite is still in early development state. The latest version (0.3 RC) is available for download from their forum, and it is the most current working and stable version.
It seems that bittorrent client based on libtorrent library can bypass TMNet traffic shaping, even though not all bittorrent client based on libtorrent can bypass the traffic shaping (Free Download Manager for example). Any Malaysian programmer interested on developing 'Malaysian friendly' bittorrent client?

Well, I tried downloading an album with 200+ seeds. And as you know, Tmnet throttled the speed. I tested with a Halite and Bitcomet. it appears that bitcomet works faster unlike Halite. So, I don't thnk libtorrent is the solution.

I love deluge. Best Linux client for me
The Windows version of Deluge
The Windows version of Deluge is also awesome. But it is quite a resources hogging application for a slow computer. Currently I also use Deluge but I'm waiting for Halite to became stable.
