Comparison of Web Browsers JavaScript Benchmark Scores

Web 2.0 applications use Ajax and complex JavaScript libraries. It is important to have a browser with fast JavaScript engine in order for JavaScript to be executed faster. In this post, you will find 15 web browsers for Windows JavaScript benchmark scores. You will get the rough view which web browser has a faster JavaScript engine. I will use 2 JavaScript benchmarks, the first is V8 Benchmark Suite v4 and the second one is SunSpider JavaScript Benchmark. V8 Benchmark Suite is used by the developer of Google Chrome to tune the V8 JavaScript engine. The test was ran on Windows XP SP3 on AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (2Ghz) with 1.75GB of RAM. Google Chrome: Unable to Import Bookmarks & Settings from Mozilla Firefox

If your Google Chrome do not show Mozilla Firefox in the ‘Import Bookmarks and Settings’ browser list, don’t panic. Here is a simple trick to show back Mozilla Firefox in the browser bookmarks & settings import list.

Open notepad, and paste the following registry script.


Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox]

Web Browser Memory Usage: Firefox vs Flock vs Internet Explorer vs Opera

I am actually a heavy tab user, usually every time I am browsing the Internet, I opened average 10 tabs and maybe more. My desktop PC is running on 2.66Ghz Pentium 4 which is quite slow for a heavy tab user like me. I’ve tested a lot of browsers that doesn’t require a lot of resources even when opening lots of tabs. So far, I found that Flock 1.2.1 is very suitable for me. Flock is a browser with Web 2.0 features, built on Firefox. Flock 1.2.1 is based on Firefox 2.

Save Web Pages to PDF Directly

Firefox 3 offers the ability to save web pages directly without any external applications. However, you need to expose this functionality which not currently in the front end.

PrintPDF is a free Firefox 3 add-on which allows users on Windows and Linux to print web pages to PDF. This add-on will use your default printer options when formatting the page for PDF generation. The add-on just exposes functionality not currently in the front end.
